FAQs

Below are answers to some frequently asked questions. If you have a question that isn’t listed here, please reach out — we’re happy to help.

What is K-1 Kickboxing?

K-1 kickboxing is a globally respected organization that fostered some of the best

kickboxers in the world, and popularized a specific ruleset that focuses on practical boxing fundamentals,

footwork, defense, timing, balance, control & conditioning.

Forza is not a fantasy self-defense program. While classes are fun and engaging, you will learn real kickboxing techniques in a safe, structured environment where students build skill, confidence, discipline, movement, and control.

Does my child need experience?
No, beginners are welcome.  Classes are designed to build skills step by step.

Can parents watch the classes?
Parents will be able to view part of the class from our waiting area, but are asked not to come onto the class floor, or interrupt/coach from the sidelines. We have complimentary coffee & water in our waiting space, along with some toys for little siblings.

Do you teach self-defense?
Yes, — but through real skill, not gimmicks. We teach real movement, awareness, confidence, and practical striking fundamentals. Our focus is practical skill, awareness, confidence, discipline, and control.

Are boys and girls in the same classes?

Yes. Boys and girls train together and learn the same fundamentals, skills, movement,

discipline, and respect in a safe, structured environment.

What equipment do students need?

We will send out a guide to families on what equipment to purchase so no one wastes money on the wrong gear.

Forza Minis — Ages 3–5
Comfortable athletic clothes, a gym bag, their Forza T-shirt, a labeled water bottle, gloves and clean athletic shoes

that will only be worn inside the training space.

Kids K-1, Youth K-1 & Teen K-1
Comfortable athletic clothes, a gym bag, a labeled water bottle, clean indoor athletic shoes, boxing gloves, shin guards, and their Forza shirt rank as part of the shirt ranking system.

Adult K-1 and Women’s K-1
Athletic clothes, a gym bag, water botle, boxing gloves, shin guards, hand wraps, and their Forza shirt rank.

A mouthguard may be required for certain partner drills or advanced training.

Students are expected to wear their Forza shirt to class once they are enrolled in system.

What is the shirt ranking system?

Forza uses a shirt ranking system instead of belts.

Each shirt color represents a student’s growth in technique, discipline, control, effort, maturity,

and understanding of real kickboxing fundamentals.

Our shirt levels include:

White Shirt

Grey Shirt

Yellow Shirt

Orange Shirt

Green Shirt

Blue Shirt

Red Shirt

Brown Shirt

Black Shirt

Students do not move up automatically just for attending class.

A new shirt must be earned through consistent training, improvement, control, respect, and instructor approval.

About twice per year, Forza holds a special Testing Day where students can demonstrate their skills in front of friends & family. This gives parents a chance to watch their child test, see their progress, and celebrate their hard work.

Testing Days include a participation fee to help cover the cost of the new rank shirt, certificate, and the additional event time outside of regular class. If a student is not ready to move up yet, they can still participate, demonstrate their skills, and receive recognition for their effort, progress, and development.

The goal of the shirt ranking system is not to rush students through levels. The goal is to give them something meaningful to work toward while making sure every promotion truly represents growth. A student beginning at a white shirt can expect to take 5-7 years to move through the entire reanking system.
